Rollergirls

Tonight at 10pm on A&E is the premier of ROLLERGIRLS. I'm not a big fan of reality TV, but this one has got my attention, at least for one episode.

Best of all, while googling to get more info on this, I ran across CAROLINA ROLLERGIRLS. There is a league based in Raleigh. Road Trip!

I'm not really sure why the big hype about this particular show. I'm guessing the best thing is that may be one girl will fall and she'll grab on to another girl and pull her top off. Perhaps it's the seduction of these girls being average women with normal everyday jobs. The fantasy of wondering if your dentist's assistant is a hard nose roller-skater who other ladies are afraid of might be quite a lure to some men. MEN.

I watched the premier. Not quiet what I had hoped for. 45 min of the hour long show was the "reality" part showing the girls practicing, hanging out, and going to work. It was edited in a style unlike most other reality shows, which was refreshing at least.
However, the only part of the hour worth watching was the last 15 min... the actual ROLLER DERBY. It's an excellent spectator sport whether it's men or women skating... but when it's girls in interesting costumes, all the better. So much for the TV show, but long live ROLLERDERBY the sport. I will have to go see it live in Raleigh.
